CONFLICT RESOLUTION
Many teams find it hard to manage conflict. However unless teams deal with conflict in a constructive way, they never develop into effective working units and this often results in people leaving or suffering from stress.
Common causes of conflict in teams include:
- ineffective leadership
- lack of a common purpose
- unclear roles
- different values
- people not pulling their weight
- communication difficulties etc
Often, the presence of a neutral outsider can help teams deal with conflict in a constructive way and to address real issues of concern.
Constructive conflict resolution results in:
- creativity
- improved relationships
- achievement of goals
- pride in belonging to the team
How Ann works with teams that want help with conflict handling or have reached “crisis point” is to speak to all the team members concerned, usually on a one-to-one basis, to identify the key sources of the conflict. She then feeds this back to the team and works with the team, either on an individual basis, or as a team, to address the conflict.
