ABOUT ANN JACKMAN
Ann started her career working in the Metropolitan Police as a civil servant. She worked there for some years, initially as a manager, then as a trainer, personnel officer and an internal organizational development consultant, when she also managed a group of internal consultants. In the interim, she worked for two police Commissioners and the policy making Board of the Metropolitan Police.
As an internal organizational development consultant, and specialist in human behaviour, she worked on a major cultural change programme based on developing and promoting positive values in police officers and their civilian colleagues. She was consultant to the implementation manager and the top team and undertook one-to-one and facilitation work aimed at helping them to understand the implications of the change at organizational, team and personal levels.
Ann set up her business, afj Associates, in 1990, initially working on training and development contracts for public sector organizations, including the Department of Health, the Government Communication and Information Service, and various police forces in England and Wales.
She undertook several equality audits for public sector organizations and at the same time became involved in working with a wider range of organizations in the private sector on long-term management development programmes.
The bulk of Ann’s work is now in the areas of long-term management development for senior and top management. This includes mentoring and executive coaching, top team and Board development, diversity and equality consultancy, leadership development, handling power and politics and conflict resolution. She also works with clients on developing their influencing and negotiation skills.
Her client sectors include higher education, manufacturing, house building, rail safety, the visual arts, central and local government, police and the voluntary sector. Ann works both in the UK and internationally.
